We want to welcome everyone who is headed to Door County this coming weekend for the fabulous Door County Half Marathon! And while you are in Door County this weekend, may we recommend some of our favorite places to visit during your time in the county.

Nearby you will find some excellent shops to visit. To the north is the City Farmer and McKeefry & Yeomans both of which offer large selections of unique items for your gardens and your homes. The Shops of Green Gables, located just south of the High Point Inn features several shops that are open this time of year. Check out the Door County Scrimshander, the Rustic Fish Gallery and more!

If you get the urge for pizza head on over to Joe Jo’s Pizza & Gelato for thin crust pies and homemade gelato. For a hearty breakfast, lunch or dinner with a view of Ephraim’s Eagle Harbor check out The Chef’s Hat. And don’t forget about Ephraim’s jewel of coffee shop, Leroy’s Waterstreet Coffee.

Winter Wonderland: The courtyard at High Point Inn on March 3rd

Within just a few days the scenery in Door County has changed completely! We were beginning to get spoiled here with the spring-like days and mild weather patterns; a winter where hikes were more common than skiing or snow-shoeing! We have yet to see how long this full snow coverage will last, but now is the time to enjoy the beauty of winter in Wisconsin! The main roads have now been cleared after the storm; it isn’t too late to come join us in Ephraim at the cozy High Point Inn!

Lots Happening this Weekend in Snow Covered Door County!

We are so thrilled to announce that we finally have snow in northern Door County. And while there is not enough for skiing or snowmobiling, the landscape is beautiful and will serve as a beautiful background to this weekends events on the northern Door peninsula. So here are some suggestions:

Fish Creek Winter Festival: Events take place all over Fish Creek this weekend from human foosball to snow shoe dancing to minnow racing. How can you go wrong with all of that served up with brats, chilli, beer and music!

Also this weekend is the 6th Annual SOUP! Project sponsored by the Peninsula School of Art. The Peninsula Pulse has the “scoop on the soup” right here.

And don’t forget the High Point Inn has excellent winter rates this winter. Check them out before you head north. We’ll see you in the snow!

Door County Half Marathon – It’s a spring thing!

Registration for the Door County Half Marathon that is being held on Saturday, May 5th is still open. The High Point Inn has been a supporter of the half marathon since its beginnings. The event was the brainstorm from the folks at the Peninsula Pulse and through their leadership they have transformed it into THE springtime even on the Door peninsula.
