For you outdoor enthusiasts there are many activities for you to take advantage of during the day. There is cross-country skiing in one of our beautiful state parks. There are five state parks in Door County. Peninsula State Park and Newport State Park are the two closest with wonderful scenic trails. Or, weather permitting taking a walk outside in one of our quaint villages or scenic back roads, which this time of year is, a special treat. After your outdoor excursions I suggest to take your special someone out for a romantic Valentine dinner at one of our many fine restaurants. I would suggest dinner at Mission Grille. Last year my husband took me there and it was an unforgettable meal. We had an amazing five-course meal for two that started with a special prepared shrimp cocktail and ended with a chocolate cake that made my mouth water.

We would love to have you come and stay with us this weekend! It’s a quiet time but there are still a few fun things for you to do. For starters just for visiting High Point you get a special Valentine gift. We have many other great specials for you to take advantage of as well.
In my last post I introduced myself and in this post I would like to introduce you to Debbie who will also join me on this blogging adventure. Some of you may know Debbie as she works the front desk and is a familiar face of High Point. Debbie will share a couple of thoughts she has for you to do this weekend.
Some of you already know me, but for those of you who don’t, my name is Melissa LeBelle. Very formal sounding isn’t it. Well most of you know I go by Missy. Very laid back, informal, just like Door County. A good fit wouldn’t you say?! I used to be at the front desk but was promoted to General Manager in Feb. 2008 so almost a year now. I am so excited to start this new adventure for High Point-blogging. Normally I am pretty computer illiterate but I have been assured by the experts behind the scenes helping me that I will be very computer literate soon.
If you have any suggestions for topics please let me know. I would be happy to hear from you and have you share your thoughts on how I am doing. You can contact me by phone at 920-854-9773 or email me.
Winter in Door County means quiet. It’s a quieter season with less visitors. It’s a quieter time outdoors, you can hear the trees groaning in the wind when you stand still on a hiking trail. With quiet comes time to relax and reconnect. I always encourage out of town visitors who come every summer to get back up to Door County at least once in winter. And if you come once you will be back – I guarantee it!
Check out the winter getaway (including a Valentine’s Day Special) specials at our web site.
